(This entire article is mostly out of date, but whatever...) Microsoft knows that Microsoft Foundation Classes suck balls, but they don't want to admit it, so they clandestinely released the Windows Template Library, which most assuredly does not suck balls. Supposedly. Other people can explain it better than I can. If you're doing GUI programming in Windows and you're not using .NET, then you need to write it in WTL.
